Collins’ Beach Cafe And Seaweed Baths

Hi Lovelies,

Well I can tell you I’m glad that couple of weeks is over, and that this one is nearly over!! Sorry I missed you guys last week, and this Sunday, but I just couldn’t. It was just a couple of those weeks, ye know!

I think I’ve finally gotten back in the swing of Jersey life, well as much as someone like me can, and I’m ready to get back to blogging!

While I was home I had the pleasure of visiting the seaweed baths in Ballybunion. They are opens from the end of May till the mid September.  My mother is an avid visiter in the summer so I was quite excited.

The seaweed baths are located right on the beach so we decided to go for a little stroll along the beach first and then checked out the baths. Luckily it wasn’t too busy se we got ourselves a tea and popped into the waiting room while our seaweed was being prepared! I should have taken this time to pop to the loo as it’s located just outside the baths, but of course I didn’t, and mid undressing I decided I needed to go. Not ideal ha ha.

The room is quite old school, with just the basics. Theres some pegs and a chair for your belongings and a towel is provided. The owner will have already put the seaweed in you’ll just have to add the water. I liked that as I’m a wimp when it comes to heat so it was great I could fiddle about with the temperature myself.

I was a bit grossed out at the thought of actually having a seaweed bath, if seaweed touches me in the sea I freak out, but luckily it’s not the same. Thank God! In the sea it moves about because of the tide, but in the bath it just floats. So it only moves about if you move about. Does that make sense??

It  was strange I’m not going to lie. It was a bit slimy, but once your in it’s grand! My skin felt amazing after, so highdrated and soft, and it was great to just chill. I don’t have a bath where I live so it’s always nice to just have a chill and a soak in the bath.  I’d highly recommend it, especially if like me you had to do a bit of traveling to get home. It was such a lovely little treat.

One thing I will mention is that its kind of open plan, meaning you can hear everything from the other baths. They have signs up asking people to be considerate of other which was quite nice. It’s funny but the person next to me ( not Mammy Magpie) was moving about a bit so it made noise like waves which I found quite relaxing ha ha. If I had one recommendation to the company I’d say install some speakers and have some soft relaxing spa type music going through the place. But that’s just me!

Have you been to a seaweed bath or is it your worst nightmare? Let me know in the comments below.

Till next time.

Sarah xo

Ps if you do go you have to also go for an ice cream!!
