Five Series to watch on Netflix || MagpieMagpie Blog

Hello Lovelies. I hope you are all staying home and staying safe! Like most of you, I’ve been spending a lot of time at home. Our TV connection is shite. Netflix has been our go to, so here’s five series to watch on Netflix. They might not be for everyone, but if this isn’t the time to step outside your comfort zone and try some new viewing experiences. I don’t know when is. Most of the things I’ve chosen are quite dark. That wasn’t intentional, these are just the series that stuck out in my mind.

Children of the Whales

As a magic wielder, young archivist Chakuro knows his time is short, but everything changes when a girl from the outside appears on his island.

This Japanese Anime series is based on a Manga. You may think to yourself, a cartoon, that’s for kids. I wouldn’t be letting your children watch it. It’s rated over 16, and it’s savage in parts and quite emotional. It Manga fantasy at it’s best.

 Mindhunter

In the late 1970s two FBI agents expand criminal science by delving into the psychology of murder and getting uneasily close to all-too-real monsters.

This one isn’t for the faint hearted. It’s very violent and as it’s based on true events which seems to make it even worse.

Mindhunter is an American crime thriller television series created by Joe Penhall, based on the true-crime book Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit written by John E. Douglas and Mark Olshaker.

100 Humans

A social experiment where 100 individuals will be a part of interactive experiments exploring sex, happiness, torture and all the other aspects of being human.

Super interesting! Watch it!

Manhunt: Unabomber

An in-depth look at how an FBI profiler helped track down the terrorist Ted Kaczynski, the Unabomber.

It’s not exactly pro the Unabomber, but it left me thinking some of his philosophy wasn’t half bad. I think if he became a professor as apposed to the Unabomber, I’d have taken his class.

Altered Carbon

Set in a future where consciousness is digitised and stored, a prisoner returns to life in a new body and must solve a mind-bending murder to win his freedom.

We’ve only watched season one, but it’s addictive. If you like sci-fi it’s defo worth a watch. We liked it so much we tried to drag it out and only watched one a night. It’s kinda like Games Of Thrones meets Battlestar Galactica and The Matrix.
